Hi Namaste, from Nepal a beautiful country of the highest mountain in the world "Mt Everest" and the holy place where "Lord Buddha" a pioneer of Buddhism was born about 2500 years ago. welcome everybody in this class for "Building Teaching Skills through the Interactive Web (Webskills)". I'd like to introduce myself. My name is Tika Subedi.I live in eastern Nepal where I have been teaching English for secondary level (grade 9 and 10 )students for 10 years. My total experience in teaching is 20 years from beginner level to secondary level. The age group of my present students is 14 - 18 years. Teaching English is a challenging job in my location due to lack of English speaking environment i.e. exposure. No one speaks English in around students. The students cannot get adequate opportunity to practice in the English class because the classrooms are large in size .70-90 students are found in most of the classes in my locality but this situation doesn't exists all around the country.So I am always looking the way and idea how to establish English environment in the school settings. My aim is to be a successful teacher who can use modern technologies in teaching English .I hope we get updated in methodologies to teach English language through this training. What I expect from this course is share information, techniques , experiences and approaches we are using in our classes to teaching and learning English. I always remember this anonymous Chinese proverb "Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime." I am enjoying being with all of you from different parts of the world and acknowledge the OU AEI for providing this golden opportunity to get to know each other . Best regards Tika
